March 10th
I’m in Hollywood with Taji (skateboarder) and Steve Garcia (film maker). Steve was able to get us into the Nike Theatre for the premere of the Thomas Campbell Surf film “The Present.”

We missed the Ray Barbee performance, but got in just in time for the film. It was good. Great surfing, and very Beautiful photography. and Tia Carrere (Cassandra from Wayne’s World) was there for an added random celebrity sighting.
After the movie Steve Packed up and we went to Castaic for sleep.
March 11th
We got up super early and hit the road for S.F.
The long drive reminded me of the mid west. The mountians in the distance were the only real giveaway I was still in California.
It took about 6 hours before we got to SF.
Drove thru Oakland, over the Oakland Bay Bridge and got off at the Embarcadero. We crused all the way to the Warf and walked around before we called anyone we knew.

After being touristy for a moment at the Golden Gate, I called up Fred, picked him up downtown and had him take us directly to 3rd & Army.

After skating for till exhustion, we loaded up the car and went street skating with Josh (fellow Jacksonvillian) Lucian Moon (Skateboarder and artist) and a few other dudes until the late hours. Amazing Photos were shot. The session winded down and I dropped Steve off with the friends he was crashing with. I Got back to Fred’s, drank beers and crashed out.
March 12th
I woke up with One dog sleeping on my leggs and another sitting on my head.
After everyone else was moving around, A group of us got in Josh’s ride and went to skate spots.

Josh useing a remote controll for his car radio.

Fred Lerking.
We went to some crazy looking rock things and skated them for about an hour before going to Daliy City skatepark.

Fred above the rim

Me Shredding.
After the session, and droping off Steve and Josh. Fred took me to Japan Town to pick up his girlfriend. Then the Tenderloin to grab a beer. rad little dive bar.
Then to Club Six. A Reagee dance hall place that was alot of fun.
March 13th
A friday the 13th no less. Most of the morning has been spent recovering from the night before. A little later Fred and Josh take me to a hill.
This was a beast of a hill.

Fred Oilled into it a few times and Josh bombed it a few times too.

Then we picked up Lucian and skated some stuff at the docks.

Blunt shove to rock fakie. He did it to fronk crook too but thats going to the mags.
Next spot just a few blocks away. Josh tailslide to drop in.

The session ended once again. I got showerd up, Picked up Steve and his friends. We made our way across the bridge back to Oakland where a good friend Alex Holmes was throwing a house party.

Alex n me

There was rad art all over the place.

Standing room only. Even outside.

Pierre le Robot playing in the kitchen.

Pierre Le Robot again. They rocked out. super fun band.

Cool kids watching random cool stuff on TV.
I met this dude with LOTS of tattoos. His hand jumped out at me beause of the lotus looking tat right next to the spiral. Both these symbols mean alot to me and to seethem next to one another randomly sent chills down my spine.

After a few more bands played and our friend Alex was pulled into a bedroom by a beautiful girl. We desided to head back to SF for the night.

It was about 2:30 am when we got back to Steve’s friends place. We went to a safeway and got $1.50 microwave pizzas and went to sleep.
March 14th
I woke up to this view:

The first hours of the dy were once again spent recovering from the night before.
After some random movies at the Bryant street house I went to the brand New SF skatepark.
Lucian had 1000 tricks for this bank.

This was just one of them.
The park rules!! Something for everyone. big gnarboots shit and little tech stuff and everything inbetween. GNalry bowl.

And family friendly. Check out little homeboy’s little board!!
After the park Fred wanted to get a sequence down the street.
this is the B-roll once again.

Fakie switch nose.
Josh came too.

Back tail shov
The Police later showed up for a noise complaint. we were super respectful and they were back to us.
That night we went out. The bar Delirium was my favorite. $2 beer and no cover. rad times rad times. I danced my ass off on the dancefloor and got good and hammerd.
I hardly remember making it back to the house, but I do remeber seeing some crazy dude get chased around a car by a cop with a nightstick: crowd cheering him on. I think he got away too.
March 15th

Hung- Over
all of use were atleast a little.
I had a shoot scheduled for DN but it fell thru.

After a groggy morning, Jessie Hotchkiss came over and wanted to go skate.
Lucian, Kawitchie, Fred, and I went and skated for a while.
B-roll once again.
Jessie

Smith grind to tree hugger…
After skating for a few hours the weather turned cold and foggy.
Jessie was a local and guided me to the Haight street district.
I kept calling it “hayatt and ashberry” but it’s pronounced “hate.” Thought that was kinda funny how redneck I made myself sound.

the Legendary FTC skateshop

The corner of Haight and Ashberry. the Hippie movement started here.
I felt very clean compared to alot of the local “real” hippies.

I thought this was very “Deviant Nation” styled graff

This cop was yelling at some hippies to take a shower. no audio in photographs.

We ate at a kabob joint before I left the group. I went and did some laundry and met up with my highshool friend Rhi, and her Boyfriend Victor.
I hadn’t seen Rhi in about 5 years sence she last lived in Hollywood.
Snaged a few drinks at a cool little bar. I showerd, and crashed out.
March 16th
I woke up with rhi’s dog suggled up on me.
I stumbbled out into the streets and Called my frind Hideiko.
It was a rainy day, no real skateing was going on today.
after breakfast at Java Beach, Hidehiko took me around the city.

These damned things are EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!
As much of a hub in skateboarding that SF is. the city has come down hard. this has made one of the most depressing skatespot grave yards in the world.

This is Fort Miley. I’ve wanted to skate this spot sence i was a little kid. Unfortunealtly, there was a cop waiting for us to show up. so i didn’t get to skate.

Golden gate fog

I wanted to go surfing. that’s a head high barrel! perfect wave face and all.

Pier 7
Another ledgenary skatespot.

They really did a number on it.

Once EMB. now smooth bricks and a fountian…

Hubba Hideout. skatestoppers removed but the city took out the ground. Plywood can make it live once more.
March 17th
St. Pattys day.
I went to meet with Mercedes at the Cliff House.

Great view.

Artsy skate stoppers.
The shoot went well considering we didn’t have a location. ended up at a drunk radio DJ’s apartment and proceeded to make it as good as we could.
here’s some behind the scene’s photos.

Drunk DJ.
After the shoot we went out for sushi. then we tried to find another location for a 2nd set but everywhere was occupied by skateboarders or homless people.
We called it a day and I went back to the Bryant street house.
Steve meets up with some bands he’s done work for and goes to south by south west in Texas.
we started getting ready for the nights festivites by drinking quickly at the house.

we all drunkenly skate back to Delirium and have some drinks. I spend my $6 dollars alloted for the night.
Everyone else wants to go hit up Irish bars but My wallet had cashed out my money supply for the night and leave the group.
I spent the next 3 hours drunkenly wandering the streets of San Fransisco, almost hopelessly lost.
Some how I kept walking back to the bar. I’m not sure how but I made it back to the loft shortly before everyone else did.
March 18th.
another hangover. this one not so bad. I had planed on going back to L.A. today but I stick around to give Brian and Yanni a ride the next day.
Everyone is all hungover or resting up for LA and dosn’t want to skate.
I however, knowing it’s my last day in the city for a while, get in my car and head to 3rd and Army by myself.
I had a great session. I did a 50-50 to lipslide on a ledge. and laded almost everything I had hoped to.
after several hours, Josh showed up and skated with me.
He shot a fakie 5 0 and a few back tails.

and he shot this for me:

The next morning Brian and Yanni loaded up and we headed down south.
I can’t wait to go back.
